Temple Baptist Church interprets the scriptures in their literal, grammatical, and historical context: which leads us to the following beliefs.
The Holy Scriptures
The Scriptures are God-breathed, wholly inerrant, infallible, and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man.
The King James Version of the Bible is the only translation we use due to its word-for-word translation approach, its foundation upon the pure manuscript line of the Textus Receptus and Masoretic Text, and the scholarly integrity with which it renders the original words and meaning.

The Godhead
There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one substance, yet distinct in personality and function.
This triune God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of all things, infinite in holiness, wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and truth. There is no other God beside Him, and He alone is worthy of worship, adoration, and obedience

The Person and Work ofJesus Christ
Jesus is the eternally existent only begotten Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, uniting true and proper deity with true and proper humanity in one Person forever.
We believe Christ lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the will of the Father, through His substitutionary, vicarious, atoning death on the cross, He bore the sins of the world and satisfied the righteous demands of a holy God.
On the third day he was literally and bodily resurrected from the dead, which declares Him to be the Son of God with power and assures the justification of all who believe.

Sin
Man was created in a state of innocence, without sin, and with the capacity for moral choice. I believe that through the voluntary sin of Adam, the first man, sin entered into the human race, and death by sin.
Adam's guilt is passed on to all men. Every human inherits a sin nature from Adam, rendering them hopeless and incapable of any merit before God and unable to save themselves

Salvation
Salvation is wholly of grace, not of works, and is the free gift of God through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
Salvation is not procured nor maintained by any human merit, effort, or sacrament, but solely upon the ground of the shed blood and imputed righteousness of Christ.
Holy Spirit conviction (godly sorrow), repentance, and faith are prerequisites of salvation.
Repentance is a genuine turning from sin (in the heart), and faith is a personal, wholehearted trust in Christ as Lord and Savior.
The moment a sinner exercises saving faith, he is justified before God and declared righteous on the basis of Christ's righteousness imputed to his account.

The church is a local, visible assembly of baptized believers, voluntarily organized by covenant and shared doctrine for the purpose of worship, edification, fellowship, and the fulfillment of Christ's Great Commission.
The church is not a universal, invisible organism, but a literal assembly that meets in a particular place.
The establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures.
The local church is the pillar and ground of the truth, the primary institution through which God accomplishes His redemptive purposes in this age.

End Times

We hold to a pre-tribulation rapture, wherein every believer is caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the seven-year tribulation period begins.
Following the rapture, the earth will endure the Great Tribulation, a time of unprecedented judgment and divine wrath. At the close of the tribulation, Christ will return with His saints to defeat the forces of the Antichrist and to establish His millennial kingdom upon the earth.
This is a literal thousand-year reign from the throne of David in Jerusalem, fulfilling the Davidic Covenant.
We believe in a literal heaven, the eternal abode of the redeemed, where they will dwell in the presence of God forever.
We believe in a literal hell, a place of eternal, conscious punishment. This place was created for the Devil and his angels. But will be the home of all who reject Christ.
